Hard Drive Not Mounting on the Computer

I have the hard drive connected to my computer using the USB cable that came with the HDR recorder. The power light on the hard drive is lit up; however, the hard drive does not mount to the computer. What am I doing wrong?
A: Please make sure that thicker USB cable from the USB-Y is connected to the computer, so the hard drive is being provided with enough power. We do recommend that you connect both ends of the USB-Y cable to your computer to properly mount the hard drive. If the cable is not the issue, you might have to manually assign a drive letter in your computer' settings. You can do that by going into a "storage management" of your computer.
