BC-200 & PTC-200 Setup Guide
Optimal Settings for the KMU-100
& General Low-Noise Performance

Please try the following settings as a starting point for setting up your BC-200 and PTC-200 with a clean, low-noise image.

RESOLUTION
Set the camera to 4K/UHD, 2160p at 29.97 FPS.

IRIS
Set mode to Manual

Use a Minimum Iris setting of F1.8 or F2.0. If you go lower than F1.8, you will start increasing the manual gain, which will add more noise. Stop when you reach F1.8 or F2.0.

SHUTTER SPEED
Set mode to Normal.

Going lower may create motion blur.

AGC
Set to OFF.

Set Manual Gain at 0dB or 3dB
Set Gain Limit to 9dB

DNR (Digital Noise Reduction)
Set DNR at 4 or 5

COLOR GAIN
Set Color Gain to 5 for best low noise results.
We have found that in better and more even lighting situations you may go up to 7 or 8 maximum to have more vibrant color.

WHITE BALANCE
Manually set white balance to 5600K or 3200K depending on lighting set up. Do One Push white balance if needed. Do not use AWB.

Lighting we used for this test:
Minimal lighting to achieve the results above was done with:

  • Key Light
  • 4-bank, 100W fluorescent bulb fixture
  • Silver reflective backing
  • Direct at 60 degree angle
  • Rated at 1200 lumens
  • 8 feet away
  • No diffusion

  • Fill light
  • In-house fluorescents
  • Rated at about 800 lumens (60W bulb equivalent)
  • 10 feet away
  • No diffusion

Even with this minimal set up we were able to achieve an acceptable, very low noise image on KMU-100.
