Recent wildfires ravishing California has put pressure on multiple agencies to coordinate efforts to battle the blazes. Cal-Fire tasked with taking the lead and managing these wildfires decided to use live streaming to aid in the way they communicate across various state agencies, and other base locations with complicated data and updates as they contain massive acre fires. It is critical that every word and map point can be seen clearly on the webcast. To accomplish this Cal-Fire turned to Canaan Sound & Light, to lean on their streaming expertise and utilize their LED display technology to rapidly and effectively increase their response and communication channels across multiple agencies.
Established in 1998, Canaan Sound & Light has expanded from a simple event DJ to a complete event production company based in the Sacramento area. They do sound, lighting, staging, video projection on LED walls, and broadcasting. As the Covid-19 pandemic began to unfold, they needed to pivot as the needs for event production completely changed. Datavideo equipment give them the ability to adapt to new physical distancing guidelines by webcasting their productions.
Canaan Sound & Light chose Datavideo’s HS-1600T-2C140TCM , which comes with HS-1600T HDBaseT Portable Video Streaming Studio, two of the PTC-140T 20x HDBaseT PTZ Cameras, TLM-700K 7” LCD Monitor, and HC-800F Protective Carry Case for the cameras. They also used CAP-2 HDMI to USB 3.0 Capture Device to stream and webcast Cal-Fire’s meetings and briefing sessions via Zoom.
“The HS-1600T allows us to deploy multiple cameras, each with a single CAT6 connection, which allows full operation from a single location and no need to hunt for power on a grass field. This product is fast to set up, break down, and move multiple times. Since we are doing multiple meetings in 2 different locations at base camp 7 days a week for weeks at a time, we love the efficiency and mobility that it provides,” said Jon Canaan, CEO of Canaan Sound & Light.
Canaan Sound & Light had been using this Datavideo workflow in their church productions and then transitioning to full band album release broadcasts, then to important corporate transcontinental meetings and now webcasting for Cal-Fire. The entire workflow works seamlessly for all different types of applications that they had produced.
